20:00 Demo: Keeping the Canopy
When I started the customization in the first time I wanted to make a Canopy for the Intex Seahawk II Inflatable Boat, so I went up to the “School” which is YouTube here to search for videos on how to make one and I studied the factory made Canopy as well to get more ideas.
I came out with the plan and built the canopy frame using aluminium pole, but it didn’t work out as I found the canopy took up a lot of space. After a few fishing trips without a canopy on the Intex Seahawk II Inflatable Boat, I decided to complete the canopy and install it on to the boat, reason behind is the weather here is super hot.
I made a few changes on the previous plan and I went a step further to make the canopy into a boat tent as well, this idea came from a YouTube video which some Russian guys demonstrated the installation and travelling with the tent on the river.
On my previous upgrading I made another boat frame using 32mm PVC pipe with eight T-joints for multi-purposes, the boat frame was used to hold the canopy frame instead of the initial idea of using the Swivel Oar Lock.
The canopy frame was strengthen with multiple nylon strings criss-crossing between the two mail railing, three nylon strings with a clip-on hook are used to hold the canopy in place, I freed up some space at the bow (front) by merging the two nylon strings from the center.
Many years ago I found a piece of canvas and had been keeping it till now, it was made to good use. I found out that this large piece of canvas could cover the whole boat when I laid it on to the canopy frame, that’s when the Russian guys pop up and the idea of having the Boat Tent cum Canopy was born.
The huge canvas was cut and trimmed into shape and I secure it on to the frame by using Chloroprene Cement, which’s the shoes glue. I used some smaller clip-on hook to hold the side canvas and some bigger one for the front.
I was very pleased and excited on the final product and it is waiting to be tested on the sea and with this canopy installed I shall be able to fish under the scorching sun for the whole day.
Currently I am constructing another secret weapon for the Intex Seahawk II Inflatable Boat but due to the complexity of this project and changes are high that I might failed and abandoned this project, I can not promise that there will be a video on it. Wish me luck and hopefully I can complete it, so stay tuned for the next update and please do subscribe to my channel to support me, thank you.
